Learn to Knit Colorwork
In this class, we will knit a hat in the round while we master the following skills:
- Corrugated ribbing (using two colors in each round)
- Following a chart
- Knitting with two colors by carrying the second color along the back
- Decreasing for the crown of the hat with double pointed needles
We will also talk a little about choosing yarns and colors for colorwork projects and why blocking is so important for colorwork projects.
This is an intermediate-level class, suitable for people who are comfortable knitting, purling, increasing and decreasing.
Note: The class sample hat was knit with West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4-Ply in 6-Cream for the main color, and Noro Silk Garden Sock in color S308 for the contrast color, with size 2 needles for the ribbing and size 3 needles for the body of the hat. It used less than ½ a skein of each yarn.
