Tamarack Jacket
Join Mel for making the Tamarack Jacket – a quilted coat by Grainline Studio. The Tamarack Jacket is a warm and stylish quilted coat perfect for spring and fall layering. Students can either use an existing quilt they have or quilt their own fabric. Techniques involved include straight seams, basic quilting, inserting a welt pocket, and applying bias binding.
This pattern includes standard size 0 - 18 and curvy sizes 14-30/32. It also has an optional add-on of a collar or hood (this is a PDF which must be purchased separately by the student from Grainline Studio). While you do not need garment sewing experience to take this class, YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO SEW already.
Session 1: A quick class where we will discuss fit, fabric selection, making a muslin and tracing the pattern. We will not be sewing this session, however you should have your pattern and preferably have your measurements written down for us to plan for the size you want to make. We will also discuss options for what to use for your quilted material and how much you need. You should plan to cut your fabric and bias binding prior to the second session.
Session 2: Sew your jacket!
