Social Justice Sewing Academy Quilt with a Purpose

Please join the Social Justice Sewing Academy and Cloth Carousel for our first ever Special Needs Sew Day! Volunteers will make quilt tops for neurodivergent young adults with diagnoses of autism and other mental and intellectual disabilities. Outside of having a diagnosis, these young adults often live in group homes and without family support. With your help we can provide them with quilts to bring a sense of comfort, consideration and care. The goal of the workshop is for each participant to have a completed quilt top made specially for them. We will guide you through the pattern and be able to assist as you sew. Each volunteer will receive their own copy of the quilt pattern for “Homecoming”, generously provided by Lo & Behold Stitchery (plus a few goodies as well). The fabric and other materials needed to make the quilts will also be provided. We only need you and your sewing machine! Yummy lunch will be provided as well. This workshop will take place on Saturday September 14th from 10am-5pm at Cloth Carousel. Volunteers have the option of taking the quilt tops home to finish the quilt themselves but this is not required. We hope to see you there!

Just bring your sewing machine, rotary cutter, and some thread. Everything else will be provided!

Please register even though it is free as lunch will be provided, so we need a head count. (please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions!)

Please let us know if you sign up for this class but will not be able to attend and we will invite another person from the waitlist so we can be sure to fill all the spots!
