Blooming Agave

Inspired by the vibrant geometry of Mexican blankets and the agave fields of her husband’s heritage, this quilt—designed by Abigail Vargas—blends cultural roots with bold modern design. The original quilt was created as a gift for her husband and later exhibited at QuiltCon 2020 in Austin, TX.
In this workshop, Abigail will guide you through the process of cutting and assembling this striking quilt using parallelograms. Advanced beginners and above will gain practical accuracy techniques for working with angled cuts and sewing on the bias—skills that will support you in many future quilting projects. Join us to explore dynamic color, precise piecing, and the joy of creating a quilt rich with story and movement.
